Tribal Governments (CATG)
The California Association of Tribal Governments (CATG) is a state-wide association of Tribal governments in the State of California that currently represents 31 federally recognized Indian Tribes. Organized in October 2008, CATG is a non-profit association chartered under the tribal law of the Hoopa Valley Tribe of California. CATG’s mission and purpose is to: gather, analyze and distribute information to California tribes on matters that affect tribal governments; provide tribes with the means to express tribal views on fast moving events in the U.S. Congress, the Executive Branch, and the California State Legislature and Governor's office that significantly affect the interests of tribes collectively and individually; educate federal and state government elected and career officials and the public about tribal governments responsibilities, interests and concerns. CATG works cooperatively with other inter-tribal government organizations, tribal associations and tribal leaders to unify and focus tribal positions on issues of significance to Indian Country.
